Dr. Davis starts with an otoscope exam — a direct, magnified look at the ear canal and eardrum. If the eustachian tube or adenoids may be involved, a quick endoscopic exam adds that view in the same visit. It takes minutes, causes minimal discomfort, and you get answers at the first visit.

What's the difference between an audiologist and an ENT ear doctor?
An audiologist specializes in measuring and managing hearing function — testing, hearing aid fitting, and auditory rehabilitation. An ENT is a medical doctor trained to diagnose and treat ear disease medically and surgically. For most ear symptoms involving pain, infection, dizziness, fullness, or sudden changes — an ENT is the right starting point. We coordinate audiologist referrals when that level of care is appropriate.

How many ear infections before my child should see an ENT?
The general threshold is three or more in a single year. But frequency isn't the only consideration — if infections are affecting hearing, speech, school performance, or sleep, earlier evaluation is appropriate. Fluid behind the eardrum persisting more than three months is also a standalone reason for specialist evaluation.
What is the AERA procedure and is it right for me?
AERA is a minimally invasive in-office balloon dilation procedure for the eustachian tube. A small balloon is gently inserted and briefly inflated to improve drainage and pressure equalization. Performed under local anesthesia in our office, taking approximately 15 minutes. It's appropriate for patients with confirmed eustachian tube dysfunction that hasn't responded adequately to medical management.
Do you treat adults with ear infections, or just children?
We see ear patients of all ages. Adult ear infections are common — particularly with allergies, eustachian tube dysfunction, or ocean water exposure. Adult infections that recur, don't respond to treatment, or come with hearing changes or dizziness always warrant specialist evaluation.
