Sophono® Hearing System can help patients of all ages who experience unilateral deafness.
Sophono is a magnetic bone conduction hearing device for patients experiencing a wide variety of hearing loss, including conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss, and single-sided deafness. It uses the body’s natural ability to move sound via bone conduction.
How Sophono Hearing System works:
A sound processor will pick up sounds by using microphones that convert them into vibrations. These vibrations are then transmitted to the skull bone and are picked up and processed by the nerves of the body’s hearing system.
Common Causes of Hearing Loss:
Noise exposure, genetics, trauma, congenital problems, and chronic infections.

What to Expect
Dr. Davis implants this device by making a small incision behind the ear. To ensure comfort, sedation is provided and the procedure, which takes under an hour, is performed at a nearby operating room. Patients go home the same day and medications are provided to control any discomfort. Once healing has occurred, the system is managed by our partner audiologists within our office.
